Loyalty Programs

Monday, November 21st, 2011

Weeks ago, I said that the next log would be about Loyalty Programs.  Then, I remembered that I forgot to send out the Halloween promotion.  Next, I sent out the “Stop Scaring People” log when Halloween ended.  So, OK, now I’m ready.

Just in time for Thanksgiving … we give thanks to you, our clients, who faithfully use our products.  So we want to take a moment to give something back to you and explain the ways in which we say “Thank You for your business” in a much more tangible manner.

A few years back, we’d give you a couple of dollars off your purchase if you returned an empty laser cartridge, and a dollar off if you returned an empty ink cartridge.  Then, the economy did that nose dive.  We decided to just lower our prices by that same dollar or two and if you returned the empty, fine.  If not, also fine.

As time passed, we discovered a shortage of empties so we created a Loyalty Card that we issue to you and if you return the empty INK cartridge at the SAME time that you bought a replacement, we would punch the card for you.  After nine punches, the tenth cartridge would be on us.  But we still had no viable program for the Laser Cartridges.

Many of you mentioned that you didn’t want to keep track of these cards, and that you have so many in your wallet already, and that they get lost.  We would joke and say, “That’s what we were hoping for” but we listened and responded with a new Loyalty Program that rewards you for your purchases with credit towards future sales.

Here’s how it works:  Assuming that you still return the empties to us (recycling is still so very important), for every $100 of recycled products you purchase, our system will record a $10 credit to you.

In this manner, you would no longer have to carry any cards.  When you have achieved a rewards level, the next time you come in to make a purchase, our system will alert us that you have a $10 credit and prompts us to ask if you wish to apply it to that sale.  It’s like getting 10% off all the time.

If you are already on the Loyalty Card program, and wish to continue, that is fine.  If you would like to change over to the new program we can do that, but recommend we wait until you earn your free cartridge first, so you can start fresh.

Remember, these programs are for any individuals or small businesses who come into the store, and cannot be combined with other offers, and is our way of saying “Thanks”.

For small businesses that order product from us, we offer free local delivery and/or special pricing based on volume.

Without you, we wouldn’t be in business.  So allow us the privilege of wishing you, your families, and your business associates a safe, healthy, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Halloween Special

Monday, October 24th, 2011

We messed up.  Yup, we were supposed to tell you about our “Freaky Fridays” promotion for the entire month of October.  So we’re telling you now.  To make it up to you, instead of every Friday in October, we will honor this promotion every business day (until Halloween).

What IS the promotion, you ask?  Why, it’s 13% off any refilled or remanufactured cartridge above our normal low prices.  You can’t combine this with any other promotions, but it’s pretty good …

It’s MORE Than Just Saving Money!

Saturday, October 8th, 2011

Time and time again you hear me spewing forth about how we will save you money on our print cartridges (about 30%, to be exact).

But did you know that we save you MORE than just the money?  It’s called VALUE.  And we provide it to you each and every day.  Let’s take a look:

Act 1, Scene 1
You buy a printer and when it runs out, you run out and get the same cartridges that it came with.  Do “they” ever ask you what model you have?  Do “they” ever check to see if there is a bigger cartridge that you could use which costs a few bucks more, but yields you twice as much?  Well, WE do.  We look to see if any “High Yield” cartridges are available for you.  Those have more “stuff” to make it last longer, but the additional cost is far less than the extra output you will get from it.  It’s called “cost per page” and we want to keep that as low as possible for you.  That’s called, “providing value”.

Act1, Scene 2
So many of you have come into the store and asked if we have “multi-paks”.  Or if you buy two cartridges, do you get a break in the price?  The answer is “No”, but with good, sound reason.  We price our cartridges at a fair price from which we can continue to stay in business without taking advantage of you.  When others charge a little less for so called “multi-paks”, all that tells me is that they charge too much for the individual cartridges.  Here at Cartridge World in Freehold, we don’t want you to be encouraged to buy more than you need.  We know you’ll come back to get a good “value” when you need it.

Act1, Scene 3
Delivery to your businesses can save you time and that is also worth money (or so I’ve heard).  We offer free local delivery for any order of $50 or more.  We offer free delivery to ANYWHERE for orders of $100 or more.  Or, you could order as much or as little as you want for a flat rate shipping cost of $9.  Period.  If I type “Period.” is that like saying “period period”?  Sometimes, I grammatically confuse myself.

Act 1, Scene 4
Coupons.  There, I’ve said it.  Just not sure if you’re reading “Coo-pons” or “Q-pons”.  Doesn’t matter.  Look at this from my perspective.  I’d have to pay for an advertisement that costs big bucks.  Then, I’d have to add in a coupon so that you’d want to come in to save the money on the coupon.  That way, I’d know if that advertisement got noticed.  So, I pay money out, then discount the product on top of that.  What do you think would have to happen to the selling price of the item to make that up?  Especially since it would be nice people like you that ALREADY come in here, but now you’ve got those dang coupons.  OK, so now you know how I feel.  Yes, I’m rebellious.  If you see any coupons from us, it’s because it didn’t cost me anything, or I am supporting a local charity or organization with the proceeds.  I will do anything to keep our prices as low as possible without going out of business doing it.  That’s my promise to you.  And you, in turn, refer your friends which is greatly appreciated and costs me nothing!

Okay, so if you’ve read this far, Thanks!  If you agree with my sentiments above, maybe we are the right choice to be your cartridge supplier.  We treat our clients the same way in which we ourselves would like to be treated.  It’s simple, yes, but so are we.  Email, “Like”, Call, “Tweet”, Fax, just no smoke signals – we quit many, many years ago.

Until next time, when the topic will be “Loyalty Programs”.

Thanks,
Jim

Staples Email Promotions … they’re good, right?

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

So just this morning I get an email touting that I could get $10 off HP ink at Staples, but I’d have to SPEND $60 on just HP ink to get that!  Let’s compare:  An HP 56 Black ink cartridge at Staples sells for $23.99 and an HP 57 Color ink cartridge sells there for $39.99 which totals $63.98.  At Cartridge World Freehold, 56 Black is $15.95 and 57 Color is $24.95 which totals = $40.90.

Ok, to be fair, their offer was $10 off if you spend $60, so that makes their total $53.98.  OR, you could simply spend $13 LESS with us ($23 LESS when their coupon goes away) every day of the week without any coupons or gimmicks.  Oh, wait, they have a package price for the pair which is priced at $57.99 – oh, but that’s not over the $60 minimum – hey, I wonder if they know that?

Oh, and don’t forget the $2 per cartridge they give you towards their rewards program.  At Cartridge World Freehold, if you bring in an empty at the same time you purchase a replacement, you get a punch in our loyalty card.  After 9 punches, the tenth cartridge is on us!  Staples, 9 empties are worth $18, but here, 9 empties could be worth the 57 Color cartridge above valued at $24.95.

On the same day, I receive another coupon for toner.  This time, it’s $20 off any HP toner purchase over $150 – OR – $30 off any HP toner purchase over $200.  Let’s look at toner pricing a little closer:  Staples HP 12A Black toner cartridge at $77.99 or Cartridge World Freehold 12A Black toner cartridge at $49.95.

Again, at Staples, you’d have to buy two or three to take advantage of the coupon.  Once again, you could simply spend $28 LESS with us every day of the week without any coupons or gimmicks.

Cartridge World Freehold – no gimmicks, no coupons, no minimums, no package deals, just no nonsense pricing every day!  You never have to buy more than you need to save BIG with us!  Call us for the price comparisons for YOUR cartridge at 732-333-1925.

Voids Your Warranty? I Don’t Think So …

Using our cartridges does NOT void your equipment warranty!

Some of us may be able to remember back in the 70′s when we were told that if we used Champion spark plugs in our cars, it would void the warranty.  Chevy wanted you to use AC/Delco.  Ford insisted on Autolite.  Chrysler demanded Mopar.  Clearly, these were monopolies in the making.  A manufacturer has no right to insist that you must only use THEIR consumables.

And our government agreed.  As such, the Magnuson-Moss Act was written and passed into law stating just that.  Now, the manufacturers of printers and the like presume to twist words around and “imply” that using our cartridges would void your warranty.

Here is the straight scoop:  Your warranty is NOT void just by using our cartridges.  You have freedom of choice.  If our cartridge were to fail and cause a problem with your printing device (and that’s a BIG if), then the manufacturer has every right to say that their warranty wouldn’t cover that particular repair.  If that were the case, you would contact us and we would cover the repair under OUR warranty.  This would need to be certified by an authorized repair center for the particular product in question.

So you see, you really have a no-risk opportunity here.  All YOU need to do is use US to save money, help the environment through recycling, and stop listening to that RHETORIC nonsense spewed forth by certain product manufacturers.

By the way, here’s a picture of the Cartmobile … it doesn’t use ANY spark plugs …

It’s NOT Just the Price!

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

How much is a …?  Oh, I can get it online for less than that.

Sound familiar?  It does to me.  In our print cartridge business, it’s difficult to just look at the bottom line without justifying some considerations:

1.  Where is the product coming from?  If from a foreign country, the product is a knock-off and does not heed to US Patents which are being infringed by cheap compatibles.  We provide high quality, mass produced, made in the good old USA cartridges that are the original manufacturer’s, only just refilled or rebuilt.  After all, it’s not broken, it’s just empty!

2.  What happens if I get one that doesn’t work right?  If you got it on the internet, chances are you’ll be packaging it up, mailing it back, and waiting for a replacement or refund.  If you get it from us, simply come back to the store for an immediate replacement or refund.  And if we delivered the original to you, then we’ll deliver the replacement as well.

3.  Can I come to you?  Sure.  We have a bright, cheery retail store here in the Raintree Towne Center in Freehold.  Did you think we were doing this in our basement or garage?  Having the store for the past six years gives us credibility.  We won’t be folding up our tents and moving in the dark of night.

4.  So about that internet price … ?  Well, to sum up, can you be certain that the cartridge you buy online will be legal (aka free of any patent infringements)?  Are you sure that it will provide for as many pages as that seller claims?  What about the quality of the print?  Will it be a hassle to replace if it doesn’t meet my expectations?  How secure is my credit card information?

So then, OMG, where can I go instead?  Glad you asked.   ;-)

Cartridge World of Freehold is a franchise that is individually owned and operated.  It operates as a friendly, local, small business here in Freehold where I also live.  But it also has the strength and support of the world’s largest cartridge remanufacturer behind it with over 1700 locations worldwide.  We offer convenience.  Stop in while running your other errands.  Call and ask us about our free delivery to qualified businesses.  We offer top quality at a fair price that is typically 30% less than those big box stores.

And we can be your objective adviser.  Tell us what model printing device you have, and we could tell you the best value cartridge that can go in it.  Very often, for only a few dollars more, you could use a cartridge that produces twice as many pages.  Not everybody will tell you that.  Or suppose you want to buy a replacement device.  Well, we don’t sell them.  Therefore, we could make recommendations to you about what device might be the best fit for what you want to do.  We keep track of the marketplace pretty well, and we’d be very objective since we’re not the ones selling it.

Want to know more?  Stop by and say hello.  We’re very helpful.

Do You Use HP 564 Cartridges?

Monday, July 11th, 2011

Looks like a little “Bait & Switch” to me.  Just a personal opinion, but here are some facts:

HP sells their 564 Black cartridge online for $11.99 each.  The part number is CB316WN and is rated for 250 pages.  That’s $0.04796 cents a page.

HP sells their 564XL Black cartridge online for $22.99 each.  The part number is CN684WN and is rated for 550 pages.  That’s $0.0418 cents a page.

But the original HP 564XL Black cartridge was part number CB321WN and was rated for 800 pages.  Staples sold this for $34.99 each.  We here at Cartridge World in Freehold sell this one refilled for only $26.95 each.   That’s $0.0337 cents a page.  That’s where the bargain is.

It’s a shame that a simple process of buying a cartridge has to be so complicated.  How  could you have two different part number cartridges for two different prices, yet call them both 564XL?

Cartridge World Freehold … Honest People … Fair Pricing … Always looking out for the best value for you!

A word about QUALITY

Our quality has already been proven in field tests at other locations as being superior to that of the “big box stores”.  We’re so serious about Quality that in most cases, the Delivery Boy is me, the Franchise Owner.  I want to hear first hand from you exactly how we’re doing and about the success of our cartridges.  Like you, we have choices of where to find the very best cartridges.  We will choose our vendors based on who makes the best cartridge for each specific application.  No one likes putting all their eggs in one basket, and neither do we.  Please use us as your “objective adviser” and outsource your cartridges to us.

Most of our cartridges are manufactured for us by Clover Technologies Group.  Clover is one of the largest cartridge remanufacturers with their emphasis on quality and environmental impact as well.   Chances are, you’ve used their cartridges before under many different brand names.  Our Warranty and Clover’s White Paper are added below.

We are so confident that our cartridges are high quality, that we back them with OUR 100% warranty that would even cover repair of the printing device if the damage was ever caused by one of our cartridges.

Using our cartridges DOES NOT void your warranty!
